An Inspiring and Busy Weekend
Los Angeles always full of art from streets to galleries. Here you can find always something related with art; Exhibition openings, art walks, performances etc…
But last weekend was special. There was two big art exhibitions. One of them 23 year old photography exhibition Photo LA happen in LA MART . It only focus on photography and brings lots of photography galleries around the world. Also You have chance to see some special collections too. Beside galleries there were several important workshops for amateur and professional photographers and also Photo LA’s big event Emerging Focus took place at exhibition grounds too. (You can find more photographs belong this show at the bottom of the page)
At this point I have to say that It was a privilege to chosen as one of 20 finalists of Emerging Focus between several thousand photographs.
The other event was LA Art Show 2014 at Los Angeles Convention Center. This year was 18th year of the show and delivered the broadest spectrum of art from across the globe to Los Angeles’ diverse and engaged collector base. The Los Angeles Art Show, created by FADA is the longest running venue for contemporary, modern, historic and traditional art in the country.
This year’s showcase were divided in to four sections of work: The Modern & Contemporary Section, The Historic & Traditional Contemporary Section, The Vintage Poster Section and The IFPDA Los Angeles Print Fair. (You can find more photographs belong this show at the bottom of the page)
Beside this two important art show I managed to find time to visit two more show. One of them especially is really important for a travel photographer to get a first hand information about places. It was Travel Show 2014. Today you can find lots of information and plan your trips from internet, but always better to meet a person who is willing to share information about the region where you planned to visit. It is more valuable then you can think to talk with a person who has first hand experience and give some advice
The last show which I was able to visit was Los Angeles Jewelry, Antique & Design Show which features the collections of renowned international dealers, attracts tens of thousands of private collectors, museum curators, investors and interior designers. Los Angeles Jewelry, Antique & Design Show features the collections of renowned international dealers, attracts tens of thousands of private collectors, museum curators, investors and interior designers. I spent good time while visiting Maya exhibition and finding chance to see some antiques.
Beside these inspiring artful shows and exhibitions I also managed to shoot The Dread Crew of Oddwood. The Dread Crew of Oddwood is a pirate themed band that blends Heavy Metal, Celtic Folk, and Progressive Rock with a unique acoustic instrumentation to proclaim a new genre: Heavy Mahogany. Their show was great too.
